Dermal Fillers in Istanbul: Hyaluronic Acid Treatments

If you have noticed volume loss, deepening folds or features that feel out of proportion, Dr. Nil Yazıcı, an aesthetic physician in Istanbul, starts by assessing your face as a whole and then builds a filler plan that treats the right areas first. International patients can begin with an online consultation.

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) gels injected into specific areas of the face to restore lost volume and redefine contours. HA fillers are not permanent: depending on the area and product, results usually last 6–18 months, and they can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase if needed. In Istanbul, Dr. Nil Yazıcı decides which areas to treat, and how much product to use, after a full facial analysis.

Why a physician’s assessment matters

Knowing where volume belongs

A good filler result rarely comes from the area that receives the most product; it comes from supporting the right areas in the right order. Cheek support can soften the nasolabial fold, and chin support can affect the marionette area. Dr. Nil Yazıcı looks at the face as a whole rather than as a series of individual folds, chooses the depth and technique for each area with the blood vessels and nerves in mind, and makes a point of never using more product than needed.

About Dr. Nil Yazıcı

Who may consider it?

Fillers are considered when the face has lost volume or support. The consultation first establishes whether the real need is volume, skin quality or muscle movement.

  • You have noticed flattening of the cheeks and volume loss in the midface
  • The folds running from the nose to the corners of the mouth, or the lines running down from the mouth corners, have become more visible
  • Hollow temples are casting shadows on the upper part of your face
  • Your profile or facial contour feels out of proportion
  • You prefer a non-surgical, reversible and gradual approach

What can it help with?

Midface volume loss
When the cheeks lose support, the folds in the lower face can deepen too. That is why the supporting area is assessed first, rather than filling the folds directly.
Deepening folds
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines can make the face look more tired or sad.
Contour and proportion
Small changes in volume in areas such as the chin, jawline and lips can noticeably affect facial proportions.

Treatment areas

Cheeks and midface

Deep placement along the cheekbones supports the midface and can help the face look more rested. This is the starting point of most plans.

Nasolabial folds

The fold from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. If it reflects a lack of support, the cheeks are addressed first, and only as much product as needed is used in the fold itself.

Marionette area

The lines running from the mouth corners down to the chin, and down-turned mouth corners; usually assessed together with chin and jawline support.

Temples

Hollow temples can cast a shadow over the upper face. Because of the blood vessels in this area, the injection depth and technique are chosen with particular care.

Nose (non-surgical, selected patients)

May be considered to camouflage small irregularities on the bridge of the nose. The nose is a high-caution area for fillers; suitability is decided only after examination, and it is not recommended for everyone.

Lips

Planned around your volume, definition and symmetry goals. Full details on our lip filler page.

Chin and jawline

Chin filler for profile balance and chin projection, and jawline filler to define the lower-face border, are planned separately.

Under the eyes

Hollowness under the eyes does not always call for filler; suitability and alternatives are explained on our under-eye treatment page.

How it works

  1. Consultation and facial analysis

Your face is assessed from the front, in profile and in motion; bone support, fat compartments, skin quality and proportions are noted. Your expectations are discussed using photographs.

  2. Priorities and product plan

Which area to address first, the appropriate product consistency, the approximate amount and, if needed, a staged plan are agreed. Not every area has to be treated at once.

  3. Treatment

After numbing cream, the filler is placed with a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, depending on the area. Slow, controlled injection is used with close attention to the blood vessels.

  4. Review and top-up if needed

Once the swelling has settled, usually within 2–4 weeks, the result is reviewed together. A small top-up is done if needed.

Sessions and treatment plan

One session or a staged plan?

A single session may be enough for one limited area. When several areas have lost volume, splitting the product over a few sessions allows the tissue's response to be monitored and gives a more measured result. How long the result lasts depends on the area; see our article on how long fillers last for details.

What to expect, and when

  1. First 48 hours

Mild swelling, tenderness and small bruises at the injection points may appear.

  2. Week 1

Swelling goes down considerably; the product continues to settle into the tissue.

  3. Weeks 2–4

The result becomes clear and the review appointment takes place.

  4. Months 6–18

The body gradually breaks down the hyaluronic acid; timing varies with the area, product and individual.

Aftercare

A few simple rules in the first days help swelling settle faster and keep the product in place.

  • Do not massage or press on the treated area in the first days, and do not try to shape it unless your physician specifically advises it.
  • Avoid intense exercise, saunas, Turkish baths (hammam) and heat treatments for 24–48 hours.
  • Try not to sleep face down for the first few nights.
  • Wait at least 12 hours before applying make-up.
  • For swelling, apply a cold pack wrapped in a clean cloth for short periods.
  • If you have dental work or a vaccination coming up, agree the treatment date with your physician.
  • If you notice increasing pain, blanching of the skin, a purplish discolouration or any change in your vision, contact your physician immediately.

Limits and important considerations

Hyaluronic acid fillers are widely used and well studied, yet they are not right for every face or every situation.

  • They are not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Treatment is postponed if there is an active infection, an acne flare or a cold sore in the area.
  • Blood thinners can increase the risk of bruising; never stop a prescribed medicine on your own — discuss it with your physician.
  • Always mention any autoimmune disease, history of serious allergy or previous permanent filler.
  • Rarely, filler can compress a blood vessel or enter it. That is why it should be performed by a physician who knows the anatomy, with hyaluronidase on hand.
  • Significant skin laxity or advanced tissue sagging cannot be corrected with filler alone; using too much product can make the face look heavy.
  • Results vary from person to person; no specific look or duration can be guaranteed.

Dermal fillers in Istanbul for international patients

Plan to stay in Istanbul for a few days after treatment so that swelling can settle and your first review can take place in person. Extensive filler work is not scheduled immediately before a long-haul flight. Your consultation can be held online so the timing can be planned together, and the practice can help with interpreter support, airport transfer and accommodation — see international patients. Later follow-up can continue remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Are dermal fillers permanent?

No. Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary; results usually last 6–18 months depending on the area, the product and your metabolism. They tend to last less in very mobile areas and longer in deep support areas.

What is the difference between fillers and Botox?

Fillers restore lost volume and define contours. Botulinum toxin (Botox) temporarily reduces muscle movement. Botulinum toxin is the main option for expression lines and filler for folds caused by volume loss; some faces benefit from a plan that uses both.

How many ml of filler will I need?

This cannot be given before an examination. The number of areas, the degree of volume loss and your tissue structure all play a part. You will receive an approximate plan at your consultation, staged over time if appropriate.

What if I am not happy with the result?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be partly or fully dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase if needed. This is an important difference from non-HA fillers.

How much swelling should I expect, and how long should I stay in Istanbul?

Swelling varies by area; it is usually most noticeable in the first 48 hours and largely settles within a week. A stay of a few days lets the early swelling settle before you travel. For an important event, schedule treatment at least two weeks beforehand.

I have had filler elsewhere before. Can I still be treated?

The type of previous product, when it was injected and where all matter. If you have permanent filler or filler of unknown content, a careful assessment is needed before anything more is added.

Is non-surgical nose filler suitable for everyone?

No. The nose requires particular care because of its blood supply, and filler is considered only in selected patients to camouflage small irregularities. Previous nose surgery needs a separate assessment.
