Lip Filler in Istanbul, in Proportion to Your Face

If you would like more volume, sharper definition or better symmetry in your lips, Dr. Nil Yazıcı will first assess your lips and facial proportions at a consultation in Istanbul, then agree the right amount and shape with you. Travelling from abroad? You can start with an online consultation.

Lip filler is a temporary treatment in which a soft hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the lips and lip border to support volume, definition and symmetry. Results last around 6–12 months for most people, and the filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. In Istanbul, Dr. Nil Yazıcı chooses the amount and technique according to your lip structure and facial proportions.

Why a physician’s assessment matters

Proportion and anatomy in the lips

In the lips, even a difference of a few millimetres changes your expression. Dr. Nil Yazıcı does not treat the lips in isolation; she assesses them together with the tip of the nose, the chin and your smile, and places the product at the right depth while respecting the course of the vessels that supply the lips. The aim is lips that suit your face, not a copy of the latest trend.

About Dr. Nil Yazıcı

Who may consider it?

Lip filler is not only about adding volume; it can also be planned to bring balance to the lips. The goal is not lips that look borrowed from someone else's face, but a result in proportion with yours.

  • You feel your lips are thin, or have lost volume with age
  • You have noticed your lip border becoming less defined
  • There is asymmetry between your upper and lower lip, or between the left and right side
  • You are bothered by down-turned mouth corners
  • You have had filler before and want a balanced plan for topping it up

What can it help with?

Volume loss
With age, lip tissue thins and the upper lip can appear longer. Measured volume support can soften this change.
Undefined lip border
Subtly defining the lip border and Cupid's bow can give the lips a crisper outline without adding much volume.
Asymmetry
Natural asymmetry, or asymmetry left by previous treatments, can be balanced by using different amounts of product at different points.
Lines around the mouth
For fine vertical lines above the upper lip, very soft products or skin-quality treatments may be considered.

Treatment areas

Body of the lip (volume)

Treatment of the red part of the lip, adding volume while preserving the ratio between the upper and lower lip.

Lip border and Cupid's bow

Subtle definition of the border, aiming for a soft transition rather than a hard outline.

Mouth corners

Small amounts to support down-turned corners; assessed together with the surrounding areas where needed.

Hydration and lip texture

Very light products for those who do not want volume but would like to improve dry lips with fine lines.

How it works

  1. Consultation and proportion analysis

Your lip structure, the relationship between your teeth and jaw, how your lips look when you smile, and your profile are assessed together. Talking about the look you do not want is just as important as talking about the one you do.

  2. Choosing amount and technique

First treatments usually start with a measured amount. Injection points and product consistency are chosen according to whether volume, definition or symmetry is the priority.

  3. Treatment

Once the numbing cream has taken effect, slow and controlled injections are given with a fine needle or cannula. The shape is checked at every stage.

  4. Review

The result is assessed once the swelling has settled, at around two weeks. A small top-up is done if needed.

Sessions and treatment plan

A gradual, measured approach

For a first lip filler, a measured start usually gives a more balanced result than one large change in a single session; it can be built on after the review if you wish. Because the lips move constantly, the product may break down sooner than in other areas of the face, and a top-up usually comes up within 6–12 months. If you do not want volume, a Botox lip flip can be discussed as a separate option.

What to expect, and when

  1. Treatment day

Lips may be swollen, tender and look fuller than the final result; small bruises may appear at the injection points.

  2. Days 2–3

The peak swelling starts to ease; some firmness or slight unevenness is normal.

  3. Week 1

Swelling has largely settled and the shape becomes clearer.

  4. Week 2

The product has settled into the tissue; the final look and symmetry are assessed at your review.

Aftercare

Lips are sensitive in the first days. A few simple steps help swelling and bruising settle sooner.

  • Avoid lipstick and lip make-up for the first 24 hours.
  • On the first day, avoid very hot drinks, straws and movements that compress the lips.
  • Do not massage, bite or press on your lips unless your physician advises it.
  • Postpone intense exercise, saunas and Turkish baths (hammam) for 48 hours.
  • For swelling, apply a cold pack wrapped in a clean cloth for short periods.
  • If you notice signs of a cold sore, increasing pain, blanching or a purplish discolouration, contact your physician without delay.

Limits and important considerations

Suitability for lip filler is assessed at your consultation. In some situations treatment needs to be postponed or a different approach is needed.

  • It is not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • If there is an active cold sore or infection on the lips, treatment is postponed until it heals; if you get frequent cold sores, your physician may suggest a preventive plan.
  • Blood thinners and some supplements can increase the risk of bruising; please mention everything you take.
  • If you have permanent filler, or filler of unknown content, in your lips, any further treatment needs careful assessment.
  • The lips have a rich blood supply; treatment by a physician who knows the anatomy, with hyaluronidase on hand, is essential.
  • Too much volume can blur the lip border and lead to product spreading beyond it; an out-of-proportion result is never the aim.
  • Results and duration vary from person to person; no specific look can be guaranteed.

Planning lip filler around a trip to Istanbul

Swelling is most visible for the first 48–72 hours, so allow a few days in Istanbul after treatment before an important photo or meeting, and avoid planning lip filler right before a special occasion. Frequently asked questions

How long does lip filler last?

For most people results last around 6–12 months. Because the lips move constantly, they may last less than other areas of the face; the product used and your metabolism also play a part.

How long does swelling last, and when can I go out?

Swelling is usually most noticeable for 48–72 hours and largely settles within a week. Most people go back to work the next day, but for an important event, plan treatment at least two weeks beforehand.

Will my lips look natural?

Whether the result looks in proportion with your face depends on the amount and technique used. A measured start and a review at two weeks let you reach the look you want gradually.

How much filler is used at a first appointment?

The amount depends on your lip structure and your goal. A measured amount is usually preferred for a first treatment; it can be topped up after the review if needed.

Can lip filler be reversed if I don't like it?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. This matters both for aesthetic corrections and for managing possible complications.

Can I have other treatments at the same time?

In suitable patients, yes. If your profile is out of balance, chin filler may be assessed together with the lips; which is the priority is decided after examination.

I get cold sores. Can I still have lip filler?

Treatment is not done during an active cold sore. If you get them often, mention it at your consultation; your physician may suggest a preventive plan.
