Who is chin filler for?
The chin is one of the key points that shapes how your face looks in profile. We explain who chin filler may suit — and where its limits lie.

If your chin looks set back in profile, or the lower third of your face looks short, a profile-based consultation with Dr. Nil Yazıcı in Istanbul will show whether chin filler is a suitable option for you. International patients can begin with an online consultation using photos.
Chin filler is a non-surgical treatment in which a dense hyaluronic acid filler is placed at the chin to support it slightly forwards, downwards or sideways. It aims to balance the profile between the nose, lips and chin; the effect is temporary and can last around 12–18 months, depending on the individual. In Istanbul, Dr. Nil Yazıcı decides on suitability by assessing your profile and bite together.

The first question with chin filler is whether the chin is really set back; sometimes the lips, the nose or the teeth create that impression. Dr. Nil Yazıcı decides on treatment only after analysing your profile and assessing your bite. Where filler would not be enough, she says so clearly and refers you for the appropriate assessment.
About Dr. Nil YazıcıChin filler is less about how wide your face looks from the front and more about how it looks in profile. It may be considered in the following situations.
Bringing the chin forwards — the most common goal when the aim is profile balance.
Slightly lengthening the chin downwards when the lower face looks short.
The width of the chin and its left–right balance from the front; a narrower or more defined shape is planned to suit your face.
Softening the transition between the lower lip and the chin; usually addressed as part of the projection treatment.
Your face is assessed from the front and in profile; the relationship between nose, lips and chin and the way your teeth meet are noted. Where helpful, the goal is discussed using photographs.
If the receding chin is due to a markedly set-back jawbone or a bite problem, an orthodontic or surgical assessment may be recommended instead of filler. For suitable patients, the amount of product and the direction of support are agreed.
A dense product is placed deep at the chin, mostly on the bone. The profile is checked several times during the procedure.
Once the swelling has settled, the profile is reassessed and a small top-up is planned if needed.
Chin filler is usually done in one session; if significant support is needed, the product may be split over two sessions. Treating the chin is a different goal from defining the entire lower-face border: if you want the whole jawline more defined, jawline filler is assessed separately.
Treatment day
The change in your profile is visible straight away; mild swelling and tenderness are possible.
First few days
You may feel mild tightness when chewing or talking; any bruising usually fades within a week.
Week 2
Swelling has gone and the product has settled; the final look is assessed at your review.
Months 12–18
The product gradually diminishes; timing depends on the product used and the individual.
The chin is exposed to pressure and movement, so a few precautions in the first days help keep the product in place.
Chin filler makes sense for mild to moderate profile imbalance; it is not the answer for every receding chin.
Because chin filler is usually a single 20–30 minute session, it fits well into a short stay in Istanbul. Send profile photos for an online consultation first, so suitability is clear before you travel. A few days in the city lets early swelling settle, and the two-week review can be done remotely once you are home. Interpreter support, airport transfer and accommodation help are explained on our international patients page.
See how the international patient process worksHyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent. Because the chin is a deep and relatively less mobile area, the effect can last around 12–18 months; the product, the amount and your metabolism all affect this.
No. Chin filler supports the chin forwards or downwards to balance the profile. Jawline filler defines the lower-face border that runs from below the ear to the chin. Some people have both as part of one plan.
Your nose does not change size, but supporting the chin alters your profile proportions, so in some people the nose can look more balanced. This varies and is assessed at your consultation.
Thanks to numbing cream and the local anaesthetic contained in the product, most people describe a feeling of pressure. Treatment usually takes 20–30 minutes.
That dimpling is usually caused by an overactive chin muscle and is generally treated with botulinum toxin (Botox). If projection is also lacking, it can be combined with filler.
In suitable patients, yes. When profile balance is the goal, chin and lips are assessed together and the priority is decided after examination. See our lip filler page for details.
