Treatment options for hair loss
Hair loss is often a symptom. Before any supportive treatment, assessing the possible causes of the shedding is the most important part of the plan.
Hair loss can have many causes, including iron deficiency, thyroid disorders, hormonal changes, stress, the postpartum period and genetic predisposition. Once the cause has been assessed, hair mesotherapy and hair PRP/PRF may be considered as supportive options in suitable patients. In Istanbul, Dr. Nil Yazıcı sets the plan based on your history, an examination and any necessary blood tests, and refers you to a dermatologist when needed.
Options that may be considered

- PRP & PRFHair PRP/PRF, prepared from your own plasma, may be considered in suitable patients on its own or combined with hair mesotherapy.View Treatment
This page is for general information and is not a diagnosis. Which option, if any, may suit you is decided after a medical assessment.
What can contribute to it?
- Nutrition and deficiencies
- Low iron stores and certain vitamin deficiencies can contribute to hair loss.
- Hormonal and thyroid changes
- Thyroid disorders, the postpartum period, menopause and conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome can be linked to shedding.
- Stress and recent illness
- Widespread shedding can occur a few months after intense stress, illness with high fever or surgery.
- Genetic predisposition
- Hereditary hair thinning can progress in different patterns in women and men.
When a medical evaluation matters
If hair loss is sudden and patchy (in coin-shaped areas), if there is redness, crusting, itching or pain on the scalp, if you are also losing eyebrow or eyelash hair, or if the loss is progressing quickly, see a dermatologist first. If there are accompanying symptoms such as fatigue, irregular periods or weight changes, an assessment by your GP, an endocrinologist or a gynaecologist may also be needed.
Frequently asked questions
Which blood tests are done first for hair loss?
It depends on your history, but tests may include ferritin and iron levels, thyroid function, certain vitamin levels and, if needed, hormone tests.
Hair mesotherapy or hair PRP?
Mesotherapy uses prepared ingredients, while PRP uses your own plasma. Some plans include both; the choice depends on the type of hair loss and your individual situation.
When will I see results?
Because the hair growth cycle is slow, changes in shedding can usually be assessed after 2–3 months, and changes in hair density after 3–6 months. The response varies from person to person.
