Who is chin filler for?
The chin is one of the key points that shapes how your face looks in profile. We explain who chin filler may suit — and where its limits lie.

If the line from below your ear to your chin has lost its definition, or your lower face blends softly into your neck, a consultation with Dr. Nil Yazıcı in Istanbul will assess whether jawline filler suits your facial structure. Planning to travel for treatment? Start with an online consultation.
Jawline filler is a non-surgical treatment in which dense hyaluronic acid filler is placed at the angle of the jaw and along the jawline to define the lower border of the face more clearly. The effect is temporary and usually lasts around 12–18 months, depending on the product and individual. In Istanbul, Dr. Nil Yazıcı decides whether it is appropriate after assessing bone structure, skin firmness and the chewing muscle together.

A poorly defined jawline can be caused by bone support, muscle, fat or sagging, and each calls for a different answer. Dr. Nil Yazıcı decides on jawline treatment only after telling these apart: filler if definition is lacking, masseter treatment if the width comes from muscle, and a non-filler approach if sagging is the main issue. This avoids widening the face unnecessarily in the effort to sharpen the line.
About Dr. Nil YazıcıJawline filler makes sense when the lack of definition comes from limited bone support or volume loss. If sagging or fat is the main issue, a different approach may be needed.
Subtly defining the angle of the jaw below the ear — the point where the lower-face border begins in profile.
Support along the edge running from the jaw angle to the chin, aiming for an uninterrupted line.
Softening the hollow along the jawline below the corner of the mouth; often needed for a continuous line.
If the lower face looks wide, the chewing muscle may be the cause. In that case masseter Botox is considered instead of, or alongside, filler.
Bone structure, skin firmness, fat under the chin and the chewing muscle are examined. Front and profile proportions, and a goal that suits your gender and face shape, are discussed together.
The jawline often needs more product than other areas of the face. The amount needed, and whether it is placed in one session or two, is agreed.
The product is placed deep with a needle or cannula, depending on the area. Symmetry is checked from both sides throughout.
Once the swelling has gone down, the line is reassessed; if the plan was split into two sessions, the second stage is finalised at this review.
When a larger amount is needed, splitting the product into two sessions a few weeks apart makes it easier to monitor how the tissue responds and to get a measured result. If the chin is also set back, the jawline alone may not look complete; chin projection can then be part of the plan. For an overview of options for the lower face, see our facial contour page.
Treatment day
The change in the line is visible straight away; mild swelling and tenderness when chewing are possible.
First week
Swelling and any bruising gradually subside.
Weeks 2–4
The product settles; symmetry and, if needed, the second stage are assessed at your review.
Months 12–18
The product gradually diminishes; timing depends on the product and the individual.
The jaw is exposed to movement and pressure from chewing and sleeping position.
Jawline filler is a volume and support treatment; it does not remove sagging skin or fat.
Share front and profile photos for an online consultation before you book flights, so you know whether filler, masseter treatment or a combination is being considered. Because larger amounts are sometimes split into two sessions a few weeks apart, discuss your travel dates early; the first review and later follow-up can be done remotely. Our team can coordinate appointments, airport transfer, accommodation and interpreter support — see international patients.
See how the international patient process worksHyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent. The jawline is a deep support area, so results usually last around 12–18 months; the product, the amount and your metabolism all affect this.
Jawline filler defines the lower-face border from below the ear to the chin and mainly changes how the face looks from the front and at a 45-degree angle. Chin filler supports the chin forwards or downwards and focuses on the profile.
If product is placed in the wrong area or in excess, the lower face can look wider. That is why the plan takes your face shape and goals into account; if the width already comes from muscle, a different approach is recommended.
Yes. Men usually aim for a more pronounced jaw angle and a straight jawline, while women often prefer a softer transition. The plan is tailored to your facial structure.
It can give support where volume loss is mild. With significant sagging or fat under the chin, however, filler alone will not sharpen the line and may make the face look heavier. This is discussed openly at your consultation.
Most people return to work the same or the next day. Swelling and any bruising usually settle within a week; for an important event, plan treatment at least two weeks ahead. Your travel dates are best agreed at the consultation, especially if a two-session plan is likely.
